This channel is dedicated to the art of Scale Aircraft Modeling, wherein I began modeling during January of 2014 after retiring early, and, because I have always been interested in Aircraft since the age of 7.
Although military aircraft is my first love, I will attempt other subjects.
If you'd like to contact me about a commission build, then contact me via the email address below to discuss further.
To all the modelers out there that post videos of their builds- keep up the excellent work, I love to see your builds, they inspire me to become better and thanks for sharing them!
If you're a lover of art, then check out and subscribe to my second UA-cam channel: "Martin Lamont Fine Art"... click the link in the corner of my channel page header photo!
And, if you want to check out the website for my art, click on the link to that too!
Happy modeling!

Lovely build. Can you expand on the Bleach Wash method used to give the model that authentic “used” look? Thanks.
Thank you, much appreciated. The "Bleach Wash" as I call it, is just a wash of thinned down oil paint using a mix of white oil paint, the smallest amount of black to produce a beige/light grey color, thinned down to a milky consistency with odorless mineral spirits. I then apply it with a brush all over the painted surfaces and allow it to sit for an hour or two, then using clean kitchen roll and cotton buds/Q-Tips, I wipe off the excess to leave a thin layer that gives the model the appearance of fading paint due to sun-bleaching, and wind/elements erosion. Good luck with trying it out.... as with all things, practice makes perfect! It's good for fading the bright colors of decals which helps them to look painted on, too.... especially on large scale models like my Airfix 1/24 scale Hawker Typhoon as seen finished in this "Final Reveal" video.... ua-cam.com/video/holTszPyA78/v-deo.html Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃

I did the RAF version, and I tried to another one, but they are as rare as rocking horse manure now for some reason?
Maybe Airfix couldn't sell enough of them to break even with their Tooling manufacturing, molding, packaging and shipping costs, so have stuck to producing kits that they know do sell well?
That is awesome. Thanks for the video. I will be added something similar to my HO scale train layout. I made a space for a large airfield to display some of my P51 Mustangs, B-24 Liberator and assorted military vehicles.
You're welcome, thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated! Have fun building your airfield, will you be posting a video of it when it is completed? Here's a smaller diorama that I did more recently than this one: ua-cam.com/video/IjlP7dh1JRA/v-deo.html Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
Одинаково блестит как кожа так и одежда что не верно. Нужно использовать разные типы красок нитро, масляные, темперу(глубоко матовая хороша для одежды), акрил для разной глубины матовости и глянца.
Great work on the details, weathering, decals, etc...
Thank you, greatly appreciated! Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
Love this kit, but clearly, they expect you to sand certain parts to obtain the correct fit and finish, especially the wing fillets and the wing spar attachment areas...and...I had a bulkhead that was bent in shipping apparently and I had to use hot water to straighten it out and get it to fit other interior walls....
It is a nice kit and looks great once one gets past the engineering fit issues. I wonder if they've been corrected since the first production batch? Thanks for watching, much appreciated! Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
Wow she looks amazing
Thanks Travis, much appreciated, mate! Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
Thanks for the video I just bought this model kit.
You're welcome, thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated. The kit does have some fit issues, but with patience you can overcome them. Have fun building and painting your kit! Cheers 👍🙂 🥃🥃
How's things going health wise fella
Still the same, thanks for inquiring. Two appointments with separate specialists coming up, one on the 18th and one on the 21st. Will no more after those appointments and what they decide from thereon. Cheers :)
@@InternationalBritishModeler chin up hope it's not cancer fella
Hi Martin, glad to see your are still producing videos, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Hey Les, hope you're well! These short videos only take 30 minutes to put together, something I'm able to do to keep some activity going on this channel. Cheers from a Limey living in the USA!
Was this all oob build??
Yes, except for the resin Pilot, the scratch-built "Whip Antennae" I put on the upper fuselage, the fuses that I scratch-built and stuck into the exhausts of the 8 rockets and the seatbelts.
I've always been curious about this kit, sounds like you need to do some extra work to bring it up to standards. It's certainly not like the beautiful and hard to find Revell offering of the F-101B in 1/72 scale.
Yes, like all the old kits from the '60's and 70's, you can either build them straight from the box, or do what I enjoy doing, taking on the challenge to enhance them. Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
How did you make dist effect?
If you watch my "Full Build + Final Reveal" video for this build, you'll see within the video what I used. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/iFxTQkn7T0Q/v-deo.html

Hey man, don't leave us hanging.....
I just found this video, 7 years later. Brought back trauma from that canopy! Only part of that kit I had issues with.
It's so far back, I can't remember if I had issues with it. I modeled mine in the open position, were you modeling yours closed? Here's the "Final Reveal" video to show you my open canopy.... ua-cam.com/video/nFGehRnuUeE/v-deo.htmlsi=6AbUnJo_le2_ja7b Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃

Revell Keeps making amazing kits !
Yes, the Revell of Germany kits are much better than the Revell USA kits, I've always enjoyed building them! :)
Beautiful
Thank you, much appreciated! Cheers :)
Can’t get over this was 9 years ago. Would you attempt a 1/48 monogram kit. Hope your well buddy. 80th Anniversary coming up.
I know, it's frightening how fast the time is going by! Oh yes, I would definitely attempt a 1/48 kit.... I'll never do 1/72 again, my eyes have gotten really bad, much prefer 1/32 and above now. Doing okay, thanks... how about you! Yes... June 6th... I've been thinking about hosting an "80th Anniversary D-Day Buddy Build".... I did one on the 75th anniversary. Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃

Enjoyed watching this and love the gritty realistic finish! Wanted some painting advice. I am building a airfix lancaster b lll from the dambusters 80th anniv. set. using revell paints and brushing by hand. My first kit so I haven't yet invested in an airbrush! I am considering pre-painting panel lines before I paint camo on top - I presume to get the right affect I need to make sure the panel line paint and top coat need to be sufficiently thinned to keep the grooves visible but also enable to pre-finish to be visible through the topcoat. Alternatively, I have some vallejo pigment (carbon black) - could I utilise this? Presumably this would be overkill Any advice or thoughts on the best option would be appreciated! Vik
Thank you, much appreciated! This was only my 5th build from back in 2014, 10 years ago now! Achieving panel line effects and subtle weathering, tonal variations in the paintwork can be done so many ways.... at the end of the day, it's what you personally become more comfortable with. If I was hand painting, I'd build up with thin layers.... if you put the paint down thick, trying to get coverage with one coat, it looks unsightly, and any chance of realism goes out of the window. I've never used Revell paints, but I believe they are acrylic water-soluble paints..... I only use acrylic paints but never thin with water, I always use an acrylic thinner made by Testors. I'd apply the panel line shading after the first thin coat of paint, then apply the second thin layer of paint over the top. When I'm happy with the paint work, I then gloss varnish over the paint to seal it, let that dry, apply my decals, let them set overnight, then cover the decals with a gloss coat of varnish. When that has dried, then I use oil paints, thinned with odorless mineral spirits to achieve tonal variations and weathering effects.... it's all about practice, practice, practice. Don't be disgruntled if your first attempt doesn't look how you envisioned, it's a learning curve and you'll find that your abilities will improve from one model to the next. At the end of the day, it's about personal enjoyment and fulfilment, not about comparing yourself to modelers who have honed their craft. Good luck, and have fun! Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
@@InternationalBritishModeler Thanks for taking the time to provide a detailed response. Very useful. I have started with an initial acrylic undercoat, however the revell paints I have are enamel - so I was planning to paint the camouflage pattern using the enamels, but I think I might experiment with a different approach. Cheers for the advice - I have found this week that learning the methodologies behind this art is almost as satisfying as the actual painting.

Very nice, work.
Thank you, much appreciated! This was only my 5th build from 10 years ago... I've learned a lot more about modeling since this build, so this looks a little basic compared to newer builds. Cheers 👍🙂🥃🥃
Absolutely stunning workmanship sir. I am just at the camouflage stage and would ask if you used the Tamiya decals as supplied and if you have any tips as I understand they are not good to apply compared to the ones that Airfix supply ?
Thank you, greatly appreciated! This was one of my first builds from almost 10 years ago, so my memory is a little lost from back then, although I do remember that the red-line decals on the upper wings, either side of the cockpit, cracked very easily and when placing them onto the model they came apart in places, so, I ended up using a fine red marker pen to produce the red lines where the decal was lost. If your kit is an older production kit from a similar time period, then I'd imagine the decals will behave similarly. One would hope that since then, Tamiya have produced a better more resilient decal for this kit. If you're concerned, then there are lots of after-market decals that you could buy from various suppliers. Here's a link to an online distributor called 1001 hobbies who have a number of different options in 1/48 scale for the FB. Mk.VI Mossie. Good luck! www.1001hobbies.com/decals-for-aircraft/231252-eagle-cal-eag48168-decals-de-havilland-mosquito-fb-mk-vi.html
Here's some after-market decals from Hannants in the UK, if you live in that area of the world: www.hannants.co.uk/product/D48099?result-token=rxWHx and www.hannants.co.uk/product/EAG48168?result-token=rxWHx
